three views of snap and strava lens showing workout stats over a view

Snapchat and Strava have launched a new lens that makes it easier, and more stylish, to share all the sweaty details of your workout.

The popular workout tracker and Snapchat released an AR feature that lets you post a Snap or story that displays the details of your workout. For instance, it’ll show a moving map of your cycling trip, the elevation in your ride, and how long you were out, among other details.

I tested it out before its launch Thursday morning and it’s pretty simple. Basically, once you connect your Strava account to your Snapchat account, you can just swipe over to find the Strava lens while using Snap. From there, it’ll automatically populate with your latest workout recorded by the app. Right now I only use Strava for summertime road bike workouts at the beach, so a July ride auto-populated for me. Here’s me, on my couch, posting a very old workout.

The whole thing is intuitive and easy to use, even for someone who isn’t a super frequent user of either Snapchat or Strava. And if you don’t feel like taking a photo or video in the moment, you can upload one from your camera roll. You can also post to Snapchat from the Strava app by navigating to the activities tab and using the share function under the workout.

I also think that if you, say, wanted to crosspost a Snap to Instagram, you could do that pretty easily. You can take a video, or picture, edit it with Snapchat, save it, and post it pretty much anywhere. It’ll be a useful tool for people who love to workout and share it. I can imagine fitness influencers making heavy use of the feature, for sure.

So now all your pals can you know about your workout, and it’ll look good, too.
