Unidentified gunmen in uniform, on Sunday, attempted to invade the Warri residence of Prince Doubra Baro, the chairman of Ojobo community in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.
In a trending video, the men were already inside the fenced premises when they were questioned by the wife of the community chairman, Mrs Baro Edesemi-Brisbe, who was seen locked behind the door protector and questioning their mission to the residence.
“You’re telling me that you would break in, you want to force yourselves in; I’m cooperating but that man (who is not in sight) is not permitted to enter here because I’m scared. My husband is not here.
“I don’t know any of you, and I have never seen any of you before,” she screamed.
Findings also revealed that the masked men arrived in two Hilux vehicles and a Prado jeep, later joined by men in military uniforms aboard six trucks.
In a statement issued Monday, Mrs. Edesemi-Brisbe urged security agencies to investigate the identity and mission of the masked, uniformed men, emphasising that her family is being threatened for unknown reasons by unidentified men in uniform.
The statement reads: “I wish to inform security agencies, government authorities and the general public that in the early hours of 31st May, 2026, a group of hooded armed men, whose identities remain unknown, attempted to forcefully gain access to our residence in what appeared to be an attempt to abduct my husband, Mr. Baro Doubra, and members of our family.
“This incident has caused serious concern for our safety. We therefore call on the relevant security agencies to investigate the matter and ensure the protection of our lives and property.
“This notice is issued for public awareness and record purposes”.
However, the video has already sparked reactions on social media, with many people questioning why their faces are concealed.
Some of the reactions read: “Why are they covering their faces with masks?” “How can police cover faces like Boko Haram? How can we know they are policemen?” “Don’t open that door, ask them for search warrant,” among others.
