The official trailer for drama Drift is here, offering a glimpse at a reflective refugee story about survival, resilience, and recovery in the aftermath of life-changing trauma.

Based on Alexander Maksik’s novel A Marker to Measure Drift, Drift follows Jacqueline (Cynthia Erivo), a refugee who is struggling to survive on a Greek resort island. She soon meets and befriends American tour guide Callie (Alia Shawkat), with the duo forming a quiet friendship. However Jacqueline is still haunted by her past, grappling with memories of tragedy and loss that have left her deeply scarred.

Drift is Singaporean director Anthony Chen’s English-language debut, his first feature film Ilo Ilo having won the Caméra d’Or at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival.

Drift premieres Feb. 9 in New York, before expanding nationwide.
