A24 has released the first teaser for their upcoming film The Drama, and you can cut the tension between stars Zendaya and Robert Pattinson like a wedding cake.
Directed by Kristoffer Borgli (Dream Scenario), The Drama follows happily engaged couple Emma and Charlie (Zendaya and Pattinson) in the lead-up to their wedding. According to the film’s official synopsis, all seems blissful until « an unexpected turn sends their wedding week off the rails. »
The cracks between Emma and Charlie are already beginning to show in The Drama‘s teaser, which sees the couple posing awkwardly for their wedding photographer (Materialists‘ Zoe Winters). No matter how hard she tries to get them to smile, the pair appear unable to muster up genuine looks of love. Not a great problem for a soon to be married couple to have!
Neither Zendaya nor Pattinson are strangers to intense couple dramas. 2021’s Malcolm and Marie saw Zendaya and John David Washington locked in an extended fight over the course of one evening. And just this year, Pattinson went toe to toe with a blazing Jennifer Lawrence in Lynne Ramsay’s Die My Love.
So what will happen when these two stars join forces? From the looks of The Drama‘s teaser, the answer is, well, lots of drama. We’re talking chugging alcohol in your wedding dress, almost getting into car crashes, having a bloody nose at a wedding levels of drama.
The Drama also stars Mamoudou Athie, Alana Haim, and Hailey Gates.
