Operatives of Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) have arrested three suspected kidnappers who allegedly killed their victim in Ogun State.
The suspects, Umar Muhammad, age 24, Audu Muhammad, 22, and Umar Danda, 22, were alleged to have kidnapped and killed 15-year-old Yahu Muhammad after collecting a ransom of N500,000.
The arrest was reported in a statement made available to newsmen in Abeokuta, from Commander, Soji Ganzallo, through the office of the spokesperson, Moruf Yusuf.
According to the statement, the victim was kidnapped while rearing cattle in the Akara forest area located in the Abeokuta North local government area of the state.
The statement reads: “On Saturday, September 7, 2024, at about 7 p.m., information reached the Imala Division of the Corps regarding a kidnapping incident.
“A 15-year-old, Yahu Muhammad, was kidnapped, and a ransom of N500,000.00 was collected, but the suspects refused to release him.
“The Special Squad of the Corps at Imala was deployed to rescue the victim unhurt.
“However, upon arrival at the kidnappers’ den, Olodo Karaoke along Anigbado-Idiemi Road, in Abeokuta North local government, the team discovered that the suspects had killed the victim despite collecting the ransom.”
The State Commander commended the operatives of the Vigilante Group for their assistance in apprehending the third suspect, Umar Danda.
Ganzalo added that the victim’s corpse and the suspects have been transferred to the Imala Divisional Police Headquarters for further investigation and likely prosecution.
