Subtropical Storm Nicole is threatening at least one more Florida landfall before the end of the 2022 hurricane season.
The weather system formed early Monday morning and is on track to strengthen nearly to hurricane strength before striking Florida sometime Thursday, according to the National Hurricane Center.
Nicole’s path and intensity will likely shift multiple times in the coming days as the storm continues to strengthen.
As of Monday morning, the storm is 520 miles east of the Bahamas and travelling toward its northwestern islands with maximum sustained winds of 45 miles per hour. The storm is expected to reach the islands on Wednesday, according to the NHC forecast.
