Director Lila Neugebauer’s Causeway is a portrait of a friendship between two troubled individuals who find comfort in each other, and the trailer out today gives a small glimpse into their relationship.
Lynsey (Jennifer Lawrence) is an injured solder who has just returned home to New Orleans. She struggles to readjust to her life and wants to return to the army as soon as she’s cleared. Lynsey meets James (Brian Tyree Henry), a car crash survivor, and together they form a deep bond based on mutual understanding of each other’s recoveries.
While Lawrence and Tyree Henry have been at the forefront of blockbusters in the past — The Hunger Games and Eternals, for example — Causeway is an intimate character study that allows them to truly showcase their range.
Causeway is in theaters and streaming on Apple TV+ on Nov. 4.
