KANO—An early morning fire, yesterday, razed some parts of Kano essential commodities market, popularly known as Singa market.
It was gathered that the cause of the inferno was still sketchy at press time.
However, spokesperson of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusif, confirmed the inferno, saying the service received a distress call about 3:16a.m., and deployed firefighting men to the scene to contain the fire.
He said as at about 10a.m., part of the market was still burning with firemen battling to bring the situation under control and prevent further spread.
He assured that more details on the incident would be made available to journalists later.
