It was a matter of when — not if — Best Buy would announce a conveniently-scheduled sale event to counter Amazon’s October Prime Day shenanigans.
The news did come later than that of competing events from Target and Walmart, but sure enough, the tech retailer is holding a two-day Flash Sale Event on Oct. 11 and 12, perfectly aligning with the Prime Early Access Sale.
A never-ending power struggle, Amazon and Best Buy have quite a bit of overlap in core deal categories like TVs, home appliances like kitchen gear and robot vacuums, and headphones. While we’re not expecting groundbreaking discrepancies in price on specific big ticket items, like the AirPods Pro or the Roomba j7+, there is some wisdom to follow if your shopping list is a bit broader. Amazon is typically better for mid-size budget 4K TVs (like Fire TVs), cheap kitchen gadgets, and smart home products, while Best Buy puts more energy into sales on larger QLED TV splurges and high-end gaming laptops.
