Eleven students allegedly involved in a fight that led to the stripping of a female student at Seat of Wisdom Secondary School, Aliade, Benue State, have been expelled by the school management.
Recall that a viral video recently circulated on social media showed a female student being stripped by fellow students in uniform during a fight. The incident was recorded and posted online by other students.
The victim in the video was seen struggling to cover herself while her attackers mocked her.
Disturbed by the development, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) directed its State Command to collaborate with relevant agencies and ensure swift action on the matter.
A source in the school disclosed that the incident, which occurred about a week ago, did not take place within the main school premises but in a nearby bush behind the school during extension classes for JSS3 and SS3 students.
According to the source, the crisis began when two female students challenged each other to a fight and moved behind the school to test each other’s strength.
“They allegedly agreed to leave the school environment and settle the dispute in a secluded area, away from the prying eyes of teachers. However, what started as a one-on-one confrontation quickly got out of hand when their friends joined in,” he said.
He explained that the situation escalated into a full-blown clash, with students tearing one another’s uniforms, including underwear, while some recorded the incident and mocked the victim.
“The disturbance eventually attracted the attention of teachers, who intervened. The students were stopped and the situation was contained before it snowballed into a major crisis in the school,” he added.
The source further disclosed that the extension classes were immediately suspended by the management, while some students were initially placed on suspension.
He added that “the school authorities acted swiftly, taking disciplinary action against the 11 students directly involved even before the video went viral.
“They were all individually expelled from the school once it was established that they played one role or another in the despicable act,” he said.
He explained that among those expelled were nine girls and two boys. And their parents have reportedly been informed of the decision.
Meanwhile, each expulsion letter, signed by the school principal, read in part:
“Following the recommendation of the school’s Disciplinary Committee after a thorough investigation into your alleged involvement in fighting and the unlawful posting of a video on social media, which amounts to a violation of school rules and regulations and a deliberate attempt to tarnish the name of the school, you have been expelled with immediate effect from March 23, 2026.”
